One month ago I won a prize game at Bella by Nives beauty salon and the prize was new gelish nails! I have never tried those before, so I was really happy and excited about it. I decided to share my experience with you and help you decide: gelish nail polish YES or NO.
First, the stylist polished and shaped my nails. Then she put the first protective layer on my nails and then a layer of invisible base coat. After each layer I had to put my hand under a special light to make the polish solid. The next two layers were color, I chose mint for the end of the summer time. Last came a final, fifth top coat to strengthen everything. You can see the whole process on the photos. 🙂
When process was finished the stylist rubbed some oil on my nails and cuticles. Then she massaged my whole hands and fingers with a rich cream. I enjoyed myself very much. 🙂 They told me that the nails will hold up for up to three weeks, then I should come back to remove them. My nails were perfect for two weeks, but by then my nails grew quite a lot (I didn’t even know my nails grew so fast!). Also, the tips of my nails didn’t splinter at all and the polish stayed perfect and protected my nails. To cover the new nail growth I put on some of my own ordinary mint nail polish. My nails have never been stronger and they have grown a lot, and I am super happy about it. I really recommend this to anybody with brittle nails, who can’t get the length they want. It really helps. 🙂
After three weeks I went back to the salon for removing. In the salon Bella by Nives they safely remove your gelish nailpolish by filing it off. But they don’t file down to your natural nail, therefore they can’t damage it. There are other ways to get it off, for example by soaking the nails in acetone or some similar liquid, but this is, according to the stylist, much more aggressive to the nail and the skin around it. Even worse, if we don’t soak the gelish properly and pull of the gelish, we might damage the natural coat of the nail too. After removing the gelish layers my nails were the same as before the application, in fact they were even longer and prettier. 🙂 After the removal the stylist rubbed some oil on my nails again, so they looked really fantastic. My opinion on gelish nails is definitely YES, because it looks great, they don’t damage the nail, and actually helps the nail to grow strong, if the technique is done professionally. ♥
