Drying oranges reminds me of childhood, and their scent combined with cinnamon is the definition of Christmas for me. I’ve decided to share how I dry oranges with you, so you can create some Christmas spirit too.
Slice oranges into thin slices and lay them on a paper towel, which will soak up the excess juice. Use another paper towel to lightly tap them on top too. Leave them there for about 20 minutes, then transfer them to a baking tray with baking paper. Dry for 4 hours at 80°C. I recommend to use the fan oven option and to bake them for longer rather than taking them out too soon. When they turn golden and shrink they’re done. Let them cool and they’re ready to turn into something creative.
This year I’ve used them in my Christmas bowl, combined with whole cinnamon rolls, with gilded pine cones and pine needles. It’s a cute and Christmasy decoration for the table or shelf.
